One final volunteer request: we have three slots that are not covered, and could use extra help with setting up and taking down the Spring Adams Book Fair! Please consider volunteering either before or after your child/children's conference for a couple of hours - it's a fun way to share the love of books and meet other families. Remember, all volunteers get a $5 credit toward merchandise. Here are the available dates and times: * Set Up Monday March 15th 4pm - 7pm * Book Fair Tuesday March 16th 4:30pm - 6:30pm * Book Fair Thursday March 25th 4:30pm - 6:30pm * Book Fair Friday March 26th 8am - 10:00am * Tear Down Friday March 26th 4:30pm - 6:30pm

What we are needing are a few parents to help explain the program to classrooms.
The time needed varies, pending how many classrooms you want to speak to. On average it takes only 5-10 minutes per class. Younger grades may take more time as they tend to have a few more questions, older classrooms have done this in previous years so less time may be needed. It's still important we go in as this is a great opportunity to encourage healthy and educational activities along with bringing in some money for our school programs. We are looking for 4-8 volunteers for next week. Times vary, pending your schedule, talking points and information are all made available to you in the office! Send me an e-mail or call if you are interested in helping or if you have a few questions! Theresa del Rosario 612-327-0183

As you prepare your child to start Kindergarten in a language immersion setting, you can help him have a successful learning experience by ensuring that:
your child has a strong foundation in his/her first language. Read to him/her, in any language. Read daily, read often.
involve your child in conversations - expose him/her to vocabulary that has to do with colors, shapes, animals, people, etc.
develop in your child a sense of excitement and wonder about the world, and especially about the great gift of learning a second language.
be ready to help your child with daily homework - basic supplies like pencils, crayons, scissors, glue, paper and a quiet place to sit down and work on it.
expose your child to as many enriching experiences as possible - trips to the zoo, the museum, the park, the theater, the library. Make sure you have conversations about the things you see and learn while going to these places.
help him/her follow a daily routine, including snacks, naps and bedtime.
